Thoughts On Earth Essays - , Term Papers, Research Papers

Thoughts On Earth This world has no place for genius. Artistry, love, beauty, creativity is warped and mangled like raw steel into financial gain and social profiteering. What happened to the traveling gypsies, the gleemen and the circus? A generation of lost souls is found in this mess of suits and ties and pumps marching head on like lemmings over the cliff to an end that is all too predictable. Education, Job, Marriage, Children, Retirement in Florida, and Death in a Mahogany Coffin 6 Feet Under with the Other Poor Souls trapped there with you. No, no, no. No sir, that's not me. Me and Jimi're going up somewhere else, somewhere that the fairy tales come true and dreams are waking memories. Nah, I don't want a utopia, that's an illusion, man. I want magic. The third-star-on-the-right-and?straight-on-until-morning *censored* that your mother packed into your head at night to shut you up and make you sleep. You didn't know it then but its only when you do sleep that you ever find this place. A few pockets of leftover magic from a time past and present in a parallel future all hidden in deep glorious caves of wonder guarded by flaming red swords and fake walls and Mr. SandMan's sleepy, dusty, night beams. Creativity is just memories of a time, a place, a generation that wasn't lost in the briar patch of reality, a muck of modernity that we find ourselves in now. I guess I'm just waiting for that next life to take me back, pull me free of this tar pit hell hole where a smile is a sneer and a friend is a foe. I pity those who don't realize the beauty of a soul smile, a child in her own world. In the sand box: they are they only ones who know how to get back to that place, but no one believes them. Even I have trouble now. I get glimpses into the life I want to lead because its ?right' but a craving deep inside tells me that there's more and I'm just not looking hard enough, taping the wrong vein; startling myself awake from the wrong dream. I want to break out. I feel like I'm just sitting out on life, just watching the silly people go by, on their silly missions. But I can't tell if I'm just being lazy and waiting for something to happen or if I'm dreaming a nightmare-ish existence in a Hell called Earth and when I do finally wake up again I'll be back where I belong. "Click you heels three times, Dorothy and say, ?There's no place like home, ?cause there's no place like home, ?cause there's no place like home.'" I'll meet you there, I guess, ?cause I'm not sure what time my train's coming in. And maybe, just maybe my place is real; but maybe its one that's just a little bit higher than your own.

Critical Analysis

Critical Analysis Critical analysis is all about rational analysis and doesnt necessarily mean that you are supposed to criticize or express your negative attitude towards something. You need to analyze all the facts and provide your opinion towards the subject. Critical analysis, just like a critical essay,   doesn’t necessarily mean that you are supposed to criticize or express your negative attitude towards something (a piece of art, a theoretical framework, a book etc). Critical analysis is a part of critical thinking, which, according to the National Council in Critical thinking, can be defined as: â€Å"the intellectually disciplined process of actively and skillfully conceptualizing, applying, analyzing, synthesizing, and/or evaluating information gathered from, or generated by, observation, experience, reflection, reasoning, or communication, as a guide to belief and action. In its exemplary form, it is based on universal intellectual values that transcend subject matter divisions: clarity, accuracy, precision, consistency, relevance, sound evidence, good reasons, depth, breadth, and fairness†. CRITICAL LENS ANALYSIS Simply saying, whenever you are asked to critically analyze something, you are expected to take a look at the object of analysis, do some background research, point out the strengths and weaknesses of the described object and provide your logical reasoning to support your claims. In academic settings critical analysis can be used for a number of purposes, ranging from literary analysis to analyzing theoretical frameworks. How to Write a Critical Analysis? In our everyday practice, we get to work on many critical essays. The most common error students make in writing these kinds of papers is simply describing events rather than analyzing them. A good critical paper will rely on your own judgment while relying on external information to find evidence that supports the claims made. Let’s take a closer look at writing a critical analysis paper in the literature using the following critical essay example: â€Å"Discuss the concept of life-long learning†. Top 7 Steps to Critical Analysis Writing STEP 1.  Write a clear introduction that communicates the purpose of the paper and contains the thesis statement. When writing the introductory paragraph, make sure to mention the structure of the paper (in its typical form the essay will consist of an introduction, three body paragraphs, and a conclusion) STEP 2. Make sure your discussion is informative and accurate and is based on relevant and recent scholarly resources. STEP 3. Using references to recent research and well-reputed scholars will add weight to your voice and you try to defend your claim. STEP 4. Always remember to maintain a logical connection between sections of your paper. Obviously, your conclusion should be a logical continuation of the previous paragraphs and should summarize the ideas expressed in them. STEP 5. Check back with your assignment criteria on whether such items as a cover page, title page, page numbering etc are required. STEP 6. Once are you done with your writing, go through the paper once again to proofread it and rid it of spelling and grammar errors. Additionally, an important thing to check is clarity of ideas (no stream of conscience please). STEP 7. Always double check your references. Referencing should be complete, accurate and follow the prescribed referencing standards. In case you are required to use APA style, there is an excellent APA referencing tool, called RefTool. is dealing with a wide range of critical essay topics. We can write critical analysis papers on a number of academic disciplines starting from Music, Poetry, and Literature to Philosophy, Architecture. Geography of the Rocky Mountains

Geography of the Rocky Mountains The Rocky Mountains are a large mountain range located in the western part of North America in the United States and Canada. The Rockies as they are also known, pass through northern New Mexico and into Colorado, Wyoming, Idaho, and Montana. In Canada, the range stretches along the border of Alberta and British Columbia. In total, the Rockies stretch for over 3,000 miles (4,830 km) and form the Continental Divide of North America. Additionally, because of their large presence in North America, water from the Rockies supplies about  ¼ of the United States. Most of the Rocky Mountains are undeveloped and is protected by national parks like the Rocky Mountain National Park in the U.S. and local parks like the Banff National Park in Alberta. Despite their rugged nature though, the Rockies are a popular tourist destination for outdoor activities such as hiking, camping skiing, fishing, and snowboarding. In addition, the high peaks of the range make it popular for mountain climbing. The highest peak in the Rocky Mountains is Mount Elbert at 14,400 feet (4,401 m) and is located in Colorado. Geology of the Rocky Mountains The geologic age of the Rocky Mountains varies based on location. For example, the youngest parts were uplifted 100 million to 65 million years ago, whereas the older parts rose 3,980 million to 600 million years ago. The rock structure of the Rockies consists of igneous rock as well as sedimentary rock along its margins and volcanic rock in localized areas. Like most mountain ranges, the Rocky Mountains have also been affected by severe erosion which has caused the development of deep river canyons as well as intermountain basins such as the Wyoming Basin. In addition, the last glaciation which occurred during the Pleistocene Epoch and lasted from about 110,000 years ago until 12,500 years ago also caused erosion and the formation of glacial U-shaped valleys and other features such as Moraine Lake in Alberta, throughout the range. Human History of the Rocky Mountains The Rocky Mountains have been home to various Paleo-Indian tribes and more modern Native American tribes for thousands of years. For example, there is evidence that Paleo-Indians may have hunted in the region as far back as 5,400 to 5,800 years ago based on rock walls they constructed to trap game like the now-extinct mammoth. European exploration of the Rockies did not begin until the 1500s when the Spanish explorer Francisco Vasquez de Coronado entered the region and changed the Native American cultures there with the introduction of horses, tools, and diseases. In the 1700s and into the 1800s, exploration of the Rocky Mountains was mainly focused on fur trapping and trading. In 1739, a group of French fur traders encountered a Native American tribe that called the mountains the Rockies and after that, the area became known by that name. In 1793, Sir Alexander MacKenzie became the first European to cross the Rocky Mountains and from 1804 to 1806, the Lewis and Clark Expedition was the first scientific exploration of the mountains. Settlement of the Rocky Mountain region then began in the mid-1800s when Mormons began to settle near the Great Salt Lake in 1847, and from 1859 to 1864, there were several gold rushes in Colorado, Idaho, Montana, and British Columbia. Today, the Rockies are mostly undeveloped but tourism national parks and small mountain towns are popular, and agriculture and forestry are major industries. In addition, the Rockies are abundant in natural resources like copper, gold, natural gas, and coal. Geography and Climate of the Rocky Mountains Most accounts say that the Rocky Mountains stretch from the Laird River in British Columbia to the Rio Grande in New Mexico. In the U.S., the eastern edge of the Rockies forms a sharp divide as they rise abruptly out of the interior plains. The western edge is less abrupt as several sub-ranges like the Wasatch Range in Utah and the Bitterroots in Montana and Idaho lead up to the Rockies. The Rockies are significant to the North American continent as a whole because the Continental Divide (the line which determines whether water will flow to the Pacific or the Atlantic Ocean) is in the range. The general climate for the Rocky Mountains is considered highland. Summers are usually warm and dry but mountain rain and thunderstorms can occur, while winters are wet and very cold. At high elevations, precipitation falls as heavy snow in the winter. Flora and Fauna of the Rocky Mountains The Rocky Mountains are very biodiverse and has various types of ecosystems. However, throughout the mountains, there are more than 1,000 types of flowering plants as well as trees like the Douglas Fir. The highest elevations, however, are above the tree line and thus have lower vegetation like shrubs. The animals of the Rockies the elk, moose, bighorn sheep, mountain lion, bobcat and black bears among many others. For example, in Rocky Mountain National Park alone is populated by about 1,000 head of elk. At the highest elevations, there are populations of ptarmigan, marmot, and pika. Throughout the history of medical research and pharmacy, several models have been launched and hypothesized; however, none has been effective enough to resolve the plethora of public health deficit that plagues the entire globe. With the rapid globalization, it seems that even health issues have run to an outreached level, which needs to be resolved with proper planning, policies, and right form of protection provided to the society as a whole. â€Å"Health promotion, then, is the active process of disease prevention encompassing educational components, including individual and group change and social influence techniques which, together with environmental, legislative and organizational interventions, make up a range of strategies for

Statement of Intent Essay Example for Free

Statement of Intent Essay My interest in the Fashion Marketing program at Parsons, was innited in college during the time we were starting to study the different fields of marketing. Since I was little I’ve always had a very big interest in the fashion world, observing the different trends and how every country has different styles is fascinating for me. My biggest role model fashion wise is Oscar de la Renta, I identify myself with him because we come from from the same country where the fashion industry can still be considered in diapers. He has known how to overcome the many obstacles that have been presented to him throughout his career, obstacles like the lack of support at the beggining, or the credibility he had to win through his career. Marketing has become the biggest interest in my life, through out my career I have seen the difference that exists between some markets and others, this field is evolving and fashion is a inmense part of it. With the fashion marketing program I will learn the relation betweeen design, merchandising and marketing and how in the connection of these depends whether you succeed entering a market. After acquiring these knowledge my interest is merelly creating my own store, which has been my dream for a long time now. I consider I have an great eye for spotting new trends, and in my country people are very imposed to fashion because there are not a lot of options of where to shop, and with my store I could give them a new option. I believe Parsons is the best place to study, because of it’s amazing credentials aswell of the great curriculum it offers in Fashion Marketing and other areas. The profesors have been said to be the best in the world in there differente specialities, and I want to receive the best education and this way make me an Amazing Profesional. Aswell as it’s locations is a great factor, Parsons is located in what many would call the heart of fashion, is in those NYC streets that many trends come to life, and many new desginers become recognized. It’s fascinating mixture of cultures makes of it, the best place to learn how the fashion marketing world really works.

Epic of Beowulf Essay - Lindisfarne and Christian Influences in Beowulf :: Epic of Beowulf Essay

Lindisfarne and Christian Influences in Beowulf      Ã‚  Ã‚   The Beowulf manuscript, written around the year 1000 and containing approximately 70 Christian references/allusions, could owe part of its Christianization to the Catholic bishops, priests, monks and laity who made The Lindisfarne Gospels a reality about 300 years prior.    â€Å". . . the poem is the product of a great age, the age of Bede, an age which knew artistic achievements of the kind buried at Sutton Hoo, an age in which art and learning were united to produce great gospel books like the Lindisfarne Gospels, now in the British Museum,   . . . (Stanley 3). The Lindisfarne Gospels was written and artistically decorated about the year 700. About the middle of the tenth century a Catholic priest named Aldred, after translating The Lindisfarne Gospels from Latin into Anglo-Saxon, wrote on the last leaf of the manuscript a colophon naming the four Catholic religious responsible for making The Lindisfarne Gospels:    Eadfrith, Bishop of the Lindisfarne Church, originally wrote this book, for God and for Saint Cuthbert and – jointly – for all the saints whose relics are in the Island. And Ethelwald, Bishop of the Lindisfarne islanders, impressed it on the outside and adorned it with gold and with gems and also with gilded-over silver – pure metal. And Aldred, unworthy and most miserable priest, glossed it in English between the lines with the help of God and Saint Cuthbert†¦.(Backhouse 7).    Janet Backhouse in her book The Lindisfarne Gospels, says that these gospels were made in north-east England â€Å"less than a century after the introduction there of Christianity† (Backhouse 7). This statement is quesstionable. Consider that the conversion of Britain to Christianity began quite early. The Catholic priest Venerable Bede, born in Bernicia, Northumbria, around 673, states in Bk 1, Ch 4 of his Ecclesiastical History of the English People that while Eleutherius was Bishop of Rome (175-189AD), a king of Britain named Lucius requested of the Pope that the king be baptized a Catholic by papal decree:    In the year of our Lord 156 Marcus Antoninus Verus was made emperor together with his brother Aurelius Commodus. He was the fourteenth after Augustus. In their time, while a holy man called Eleutherius was bishop of the church at Rome, Lucius, a king of Britain, sent him a letter praying him that he might be made a

Research Proposal Larvae Therapy

Natalie Merrier Student nurse yr Declaration of interest: I have chosen to investigate this topic as I have only worked with one patient using lave therapy treatment (contained) and was often designated the task of redressing and watering the lave, this particular gentleman did not mind the therapy and referred to the lave as â€Å"his little friends† I could not help but wonder f he wound have been so compliant if they were loose in his wound and if this would have made any difference to the healing process.Abstract: This article plans to compare the use of contained or caged maggots to those placed directly onto the wound bed itself (referred to in this research proposal as free range). All care has been taken to ensure that patient safety comes first and if at any point a healthcare professional feels that the treatment is not affective for the patient they will be excluded from the research and commenced on a more suitable or preferred treatment.I expect to find in my resu lts that free range maggots are more effective, however patient tolerance will be better with contained lave due to fear of lave escaping the dressing and sensation if overlapped onto healthy skin. Introduction Maggots, many recent articles comparing debasement versus maggot therapy. Less information available on the application of maggots and how that effects the treatment and effectiveness of the maggots ability to debris, disinfect and stimulate healing. Rotational method of free range maggots Vs.. Contained maggots in gauze or muslin bags. Validity and reliability Lit review/background â€Å"Accounts of maggots used on open wounds date back to the Old Testament. † (Bare 1931; Peachtree and Sherman 1983) Bear 1931, treated a WWW soldier on a battlefield using maggots for a femur fracture and abdominal wound. Observed that the wounds were covered in maggots, after cleaning the wounds noticed that the wound bed consisted of healthy granulating tissue. U to this he began stud ying maggots and there effect on open wounds in detail and pioneered the international treatment of skin infections with childhood fly rave in 1931 it was deemed safe, effective and economical at this time and was widely used until 1950 when antibiotics and surgical debarment therapy became more popular treatment option as suggested by; (Apothecaries Education & Research Foundation [BETTER], 2003; Fleischmann, Grabbers, & Sherman, 2004; Maggots on wounds have been used for Debarment, disinfection, stimulation of healing and billion inhabitation and eradication.Although these benefits have use particularly useful in pressure ulcer treatment and diabetic foot ulcers. As suggested y Bear (1931), Horn Cob and Gates (1976) Sherman (2002), Stevedore (2004) and -rampant (2007) Research has been conducted into the sub-species of maggots that is most effective by: REFERENCE And also research has been conducted into patient tolerance of the treatment by: REFERENCE However, less research has b een done to see if patient tolerance and containment are directly related, and the extent that containment hinders the debarment process.Sample Inclusion and exclusion: No participant's with services sepsis or gangrene and need amputation (due to the risk of patient) one of the sample group shall be diabetic as this will affect the rate of healing and cause results to be skewed. For the same reason the wounds on each patient must be about the same size and depth with equal quality of tissue (ox. CM 70% slough, for example). To keep my research fair and ethical I intend to select clients of similar age and health for a fair opportunity for contained and free ranged maggots.Due to the nature of this research in intend to select 6 patients and use 3 for each option as long as they consent and tolerate the treatment. Hypothesis/predicted results: I predict that although â€Å"free range† maggots will be more effective at debarring the wound quickly, suggested to be more effective in previous research articles Stevedore P, Jacobin CE, Osama a study conducted in the Netherlands.Wimp Fleischmann, Martin Grabbers (2004) patient preference will lie with contained or caged lava, in addition suggested that the staff applying the dressing would generally prefer the contained lava to free ranged ones. METHOD: (quantitative) statistical numerical data, comparing contained to free range goats on open wounds and infected skin tissue. (Quantitative) survey of the experience for the patient using contained or free range maggots, the combination of both meaner that I will use a triangulation method. To determine the patients feelings towards the treatment I will provide a simple questionnaire. To determine the effectiveness of the treatment itself the wounds will be measured every 2 days when the dressings are removed to give water to the maggots with a photo at start and finish helping distinguish the improvement of quality of tissue in the wound bed. Analysis Evaluation Results Ethics Patient aware of research? Know they are able to opt out of experiment at any time? F maggot treatment no longer suitable MET will recommend stopping the maggot treatment and using alternative therapy such as surgical debasement. References Bare, W. S. (1931). Percys Intention essays

Percy's Intention essays Percy's novel has succeeded in making a vivid image of the South as it was seen through his eyes and through his direct experience. As we have seen from the second quote, many of his conclusions have come from a direct contact with the local Southerners, be they black or white. The idea I wish to start with and build upon is that, as seen from his black playmates, "mere living may be delightful". Indeed, Percy, in direct contact with the black population, can and is entitled to believe that from their point of view, living is "delightful" because life is beautiful even in bad conditions. The text itself lets us believe that one can manage to draw the beautiful things in life, ignore the less beautiful and simply include them in the "scenery". It may be somewhat of a recipe of a happy living. On the other hand, the whites seem to have their hearts set on virtues that "make living worth while". If we look at the two perspectives on life, they may seem the same, however, it is my personal opinion that there is a pejorative note regarding the white aristocracy and their style of living. Seemingly the same with the black style, easy, drawing the best of life and of the life experience, in the case of the white aristocracy, there may be somewhat of a negative note. I am asserting this considering the fact that perhaps one would associate the "making living worth while" with debauchery and an easy style. In my opinion, what takes the form of a gay life experience for the blacks, in the case of the white population, the aristocratic lifestyle is vain and However, even if we consider the discussion above, Percy's intention, in my opinion, is to draw some of the characteristics of life in the South and to include these characteristics so as to describe not blacks or whites, but Southerners, with their way of regarding life as a worthwhile experience, as he himself ...

Religious Life of Planet Earth Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words

Religious Life of Planet Earth - Assignment Example Currently, planet earth has twenty two core religions. Religious belief is a solid belief in powers that rule human destiny or supernatural powers. The following criteria of what the population believed in regards to the purpose, nature, and cause of the universe according to their beliefs. Christianity, Islamic, and Hinduism are among the largest religions on earth. In Christianity, people believe that there is one God. He created the universe in seven days. They also believe that God created them to live in his vision of justice and love. The main objective in life of Christianity is to serve God and love others throughout their lives (Streng, 1985). In Islamic, influential religious rituals get represented as the pillars of faith. The five pillars of faith are daily ritual prayers, fasting during the Ramadan month, paying the alms tax, pilgrimage to Mecca and daily confession of faith. From the above criteria, different religions have different believes. For example from Christianity, people believe that there is only one God, who is the maker of the universe. This is a superb example of beliefs because it shows that people of that religion believe in one Almighty God. Another example of believe is that some people believe in superstition beliefs (Streng, 1985). Superstition is a belief in supernatural powers, which implies that God is a supernatural being.
